Support for Black students aspiring to a career in health

PLANS seeks to increase representation of African Nova Scotians in the health professions through recruitment and retention, community collaborations and partnerships to improve health outcomes within the African Nova Scotian community.

PLANS offers programming (e.g. advising, mentorship, high school co-op, summer camp), resources (e.g. health program and career information), and attends community and school events to provide health career preparation and support to:

  • current post-secondary students
  • youth in junior high and high school including parents/families
  • community members, education and health organizations
  • teachers, student support workers, and guidance counsellors
  • post-secondary staff and faculty

   

Admissions Equity

This includes providing the necessary support ad connections to ensure student success.

To be considered under admissions equity, applicable bursaries/scholarship, and/or connected with appropriate supports (i.e. PLANS, Black Student Advising Centre), it is strongly encouraged to self-identify where indicated on applicable forms. Information gained from self-identification process is used only for admissions purposes and connecting students with appropriate resources and services.
