The Liberal Party of Canada today unveiled the membership of its International Affairs Council of Advisors, which includes current Parliamentarians, former ambassadors, nonprofit leaders, former military service members, senior business advisors, legal professionals and noted academics.

“Liberals believe that Canada can—and must—play a positive and constructive role in tackling some of the world’s biggest challenges,” said Liberal Party of Canada Leader Justin Trudeau. “That is why we have brought together non-partisan experts from across the country to sit on our International Affairs Council of Advisors—in order to discuss pressing issues like the rise of ISIL and the war in Iraq, military defence procurement, Canada’s contribution to humanitarian crises, and our response to global security threats.”

The International Affairs Council of Advisors, which meets every few months, is co-chaired by Liberal Foreign Affairs Critic Marc Garneau and the Liberal candidate for Orléans, Lieutenant-General (ret’d) Andrew Leslie. They are joined by Hon. Irwin Cotler, Hon. Ralph Goodale, Joyce Murray, Kirsty Duncan, Rana Sakar, Major (ret’d) Stephen Fuhr, Michael Bell, Catherine McKenna, Margaret Cornish, Martine Durier-Copp, Jeremy Kinsman and Jocelyn Coulon.
