Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Management invites applications for a probationary tenure-‐track, tenure-‐track or tenured position as a Tier II Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Indigenous Governance and Leadership at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2017. Dalhousie University is located in Halifax, Nova Scotia and on Mi’kmaw territory. The Faculty of Management is comprised of four Schools: Public Administration, Business, Information Management and Resource and Environmental Studies.

The successful candidate will benefit from and strengthen the Faculty’s research program in governance and leadership and its strong ties with the MacEachen Institute for Public Policy and Governance.

Depending on the stage of his/her career, the selection committee will evaluate the candidate on the following criteria: (i) an established record of independent and externally funded research that focuses specifically on Indigenous dimensions of governance and leadership; (ii) a demonstrated track record of developing research partnerships with Indigenous communities and academic research networks; (iii) research with an impact on Indigenous communities in Canada, including the Mi’kmaq in Nova Scotia.

Examples of research areas include, but are not limited to: Indigenous government structures and leadership models; Indigenous government relations; Western and Indigenous ways of knowing and decision making; legal governance frameworks; social and economic capacity-‐building within Indigenous communities; and/or Indigenous resource management.

The CRC program was established by the Canadian federal government in order to attract outstanding researchers to the Canadian university system. The program’s terms of reference for qualifications are available at www.chairs.gc.ca. The program expects nominees to be excellent emerging researchers who have demonstrated particular research creativity; have demonstrated the potential to achieve international recognition in their fields; propose original high-‐quality research programs; and have the potential to attract excellent trainees and future researchers. Appointment to this CRC position is subject to review and final approval by the CRC Secretariat.

Applications received by February 29, 2016 will be given full consideration. Applications to the CRC program must be submitted by April 25, 2016 for an anticipated position start date of July 1, 2017.
