Posted by Rowe School of Business on January 16, 2013 in Students

Over 500 students from 13 business schools are expected to descend on Halifax this coming weekend. They will compete in Jeux du Commerce Central (JDCC) January 18-20 at Dalhousie University’s Rowe School of Business.

JDCC is an annual three-day event that showcases academic, athletic and social competitions amongst university business schools. Delegates from Eastern and Central Canada will compete in business case analyses, parliamentary style debates, sports tournaments and social competitions that test business acumen, teamwork, determination and school spirit. The business school that distinguishes itself through excellence in all categories will take home the prestigious title of “School of the Year.”

The Academic Cases

The core of the three-day event is the “Academic Case” competition where university teams of three students analyze a variety of business problems or opportunities and present their solution before a panel of three judges.

Cases include business problems in accounting, entrepreneurship, business strategy, management information systems, finance, marketing management, international business and human resources.

Competing Schools

School representation at JDCC spans business schools in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Each competing team will send between 20 and 50 delegates. Joining the competitors will be the team captains, faculty advisors and volunteers from each school and judges selected from business and the law.

Participating schools are Wilfrid Laurier University, University of Toronto (Rotman), York University (Schulich), Carleton University (Sprott), Ryerson University (Ted Rogers), University of Guelph, McMaster University (DeGroote), McGill University (Desautels), Trent University, Brock University (Goodman), Concordia University (John Molson), University of New Brunswick, Dalhousie University (Rowe).
