The Faculty of Engineering would like to congratulate Ron Gilkie on receiving the Dalhousie Alumni Lifetime Acheivement Award. Ron was honoured with the award at the Annual Alumni Dinner on October 16. Ron said that receiving the award is a tremendous honour and highlight in his life.

Ron has volunteered on more than 70 university committees during his 40-year teaching career, and was instrumental in the merger of TUNS and Dalhousie University. In 2012 he was elected a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering. Dr. Gilkie also helped make the engineering program a fair, progressing environment for female students back in the late 1960s, and co-chaired the DalTech Women on Campus Committee.

Even in his retirement, Ron continues to give back. He volunteers on 11 different boards and commitees, he is an active participant in the Dean's Cofee Club, and remains the Chief Warden of Iron Ring Camp 7.

Among all of his acheivements, Ron's shares that the greatest reward for him, has always been watching his students succeed.
