ACORN 2014 Trade Show

Join the Atlantic Canadian Organic Regional Network (ACORN) in Halifax, from November 12-14th, for Honouring Our Roots, Sowing Our Future–ACORN's 15th Annual Conference and Trade Show! Register online before Sunday, September 28th and receive the early-bird (discounted) rate and a chance to win a free night's stay at the Halifax Harbourfront Marriott Hotel (the Conference location for both ACORN & Food Secure Canada)! All rates will increase as of September 29th.

On November 12th, ACORN's Conference Kick-Off will take place in the Upper Courtyard in the Brewery Market, from 7-10pm, featuring an all-local-organic beer bar, wine, and food and coffee provided by Local Source Market and Just Us Coffee.

On November 13th, ACORN will feature our annual, 4-course, 100% Organic Banquet, preceding Dr. Vandana Shiva's keynote address for ACORN and Food Secure Canada. This event will mark the end of a day-long silent auction, including books, seeds, farm and garden equipment, and gift certificates, among others. Keynote Speaker: Dr. Vandana Shiva is a world-renowned organic food and seed activist, author and physicist. She has authored more than twenty books on issues of globalization, corporate control, gender rights, justice, ecofeminism, and agriculture. Holding degrees in both physics and philosophy, Shiva has earned global recognition for her work promoting sustainable practices, as well as the protection of biodiversity and the rights of local communities. She has won numerous awards for her work including the Alternative Nobel Peace Prize in 1993, the Sydney Peace Prize in 2000, and is one of the founders of Navdanya, a movement to protect biological and cultural diversity.
