Cycling and Walking
Active transportation is good for the environment and your health!
New Initiatives
Dalhousie has worked with local hospital (IWK and Capital Health) and Saint Mary’s University to develop a Institutional Cycling Master Plan. A final version will be posted in Fall 2011 and includes information on paths, infrastructure and education.
Bike parking, loans and share studies have been completed. 200 new bike parking spots will be added to the existing 550 spots over the next two years. To find out where the bike racks are on campus, please visit the campus map. Any new building will have bike facilities such as showers and indoor and outdoor racks. Bike loans are available from front desk staff at residence and from the Dalhousie Campus Bike Centre.
Campus Bike Centre
The Campus Bike Centre is based out of the Studley Gym. It offers cycling maintenance and safety education programs. Future plans include a bike share program. To find out when the Centre's open hours are or when the centre will be hosting training events, please check out the Bike Centre's website. You can reach the Campus Bike Centre by email at bikectr@dal.ca. The Centre is always looking for volunteers.
Walking Programs
The Dalplex offers walking programs for employees and students and other active living programs.
