We would like to share an update from Adventus Research + Consulting that the next NSERC Idea to Innovation Grant application deadline is Friday January 8, 2016.  New 2016 application deadline dates for the NSERC i2i grants program were recently published on the NSERC website.

Adventus has supported Canadian universities and colleges NSERC i2i Grant applications by conducting several market studies in diverse technology areas that address the essential market questions related to the commercial potential of new innovations.  The essential questions to be addressed in an NSERC Market Assessment include:

• What is the problem or opportunity the technology looks to address? What is the frequency or extent of the problem or opportunity?
• Who is looking to solve the particular problem or take advantage of the opportunity, and are they willing to pay to solve it?
• What is the proposed solution to address this identified problem or opportunity, and who will pay for the solution?
• Why has this problem not been solved already?
• What barriers exist? What is being proposed to overcome the barriers?
• How is it different than existing solutions, and why will someone choose the proposed solution instead?
