From Mark Filiaggi

SSHRC has issued a call for nominations for the 2015 Impact awards (Gold Medal; Talent Award; Insight Award; Connection Award; Partnership Award), the details of which can be found on SSHRC's website.

As a condition of the nomination process, institutions may submit only one nomination for each award in a given year, for a maximum of five SSHRC Impact Award nominations. The Faculty of Graduate Studies will be coordinating nominations for the Talent Award. For the remaining awards, each Faculty is being asked to put forward, with the assistance of their respective ADRs and department Chairs, a maximum of one nomination per award. Interested members of the Dalhousie community should communicate their intentions directly to their appropriate academic unit for consideration. These applications (with the exception of those for the Talent Award competition) should be sent directly to the Office of the Vice President Research (Attention: M Filiaggi) or by email to mark.filiaggi@dal.ca no  later than Wednesday, March 2nd so that an assessment and ranking of nominations (where there are multiple nominations for a given award category) can be carried out prior to the April 8th nomination deadline. [Note that this deadline is one month earlier than for last year's competition.] You may wish to review last year's winners to get a sense of the caliber of individuals being sought for these awards.

Please note that for each Award category there is a requirement for a a communications strategy together with a monetary commitment from the award (minimum 10%) to promote the impact and outcome of the nominee's achievements. The Office of the VPR and its communications team will work with nominees on a "Promotion Plan" to be included with the nomination package.

Please feel free to contact me (mark.filiaggi@dal.ca) if you have any questions.
