Posted by Alana Milner on January 26, 2015 in Announcements

From Mark Filiaggi:

The Royal Society of Canada has issued its call for nominations to the College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists. The aim of this College is to gather together exceptionally talented individuals in the early stages of their careers in order to address issues of particular concern to new scholars, artists and scientists, for the advancement of understanding and the benefit of society, taking advantage of the interdisciplinary approaches fostered by the establishment of the College. To be eligible, candidates must be no more than 15 years from the conferral of their PhD degree (or equivalent qualification) at the time of nomination. The sole criterion for nomination shall be "excellence, which is understood to encompass the goals of diversity and inclusivity to which the RSC is committed, and to which the membership of the College is expected to exemplify in terms of discipline, gender, ethno-racial diversity, Aboriginality, and official languages." More details regarding the College, including nomination protocols and procedures, may be found on RSC's website

For 2015, nominations to the College may be initiated by current Members of the College, Fellows of the RSC, or Institutional Members. As an Institutional member, Dalhousie may submit up to 3 nominations. Note that there is no limit to the number of nominations allowed from Members or Fellows.
