Shastri Indo Canadian Institute Funding, 2014to 2015

Dalhousie faculty with interests in India may be interested in the following funding opportunities from the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute:

  • Partnership Seed Grant – funding for activities which contribute to institutional agreements and other long-term partnerships. Funds may be used to support a bi-national seminar, conference, workshop, meeting, scholarly discussions and planning meetings which are expected to lead to significant research collaborations with Indian institutions. Grants are in the amount of $5,000; work is expected to begin by October 2014 and conclude by end February 2015.   For more information : http://www.sici.org/programmes/details/shastri-partnership-seed-grant-spsg-2014-15/
  • Shastri Research Grant – supports collaborative research projects entailing academic mobility as well as capacity building between Indian and Canadian institutions. Proposals will be accepted across a range of fields, including social science, STEM subjects, food security and sustainable development, water resource management, gender and health, bilateral trade and investment, energy and environment, securing the future of children and youth, and higher education mobility. Grants are in the amount of $10,000; work is expected to begin by October 2014 and conclude by end March 2015.  For more information:   http://www.sici.org/programmes/details/Shastri-Research-Grant/
  • Scholar Travel Subsidy Grant – assists scholars to participate in conferences and academic meetings through travel subsidies, with a view to establishing institutional and scholarly linkages.  Canadians may travel to India, and vice versa. Assistance with travel costs, up to $1,250, is available.
