Campus Orientation

Arrange for an orientation to your new department, including your workspace, and meet the colleagues you will be working with.

Ensure you get a campus tour with your manager or a colleague, particularly the areas you will need to access frequently.

Getting Your DalCard

Once you receive your official letter of employment from your department (and your Banner ID number), you can obtain a DalCard by bringing your letter of employment along with a piece of government-issued identification to the DalCard Office, 1443 Seymour Street.

The DalCard is the university's official identification card and serves as your library card, a debit card for select goods and services (both on- and off-campus), and can be used to control access to specific locations around campus.

Parking on Campus

Obtain a parking permit, if needed, through Dalhousie Security Services, located in the Parkade Level of the Marion McCain Arts & Social Sciences Building. You will need to bring your valid vehicle permit and DalCard. Parking permits, which include annual, term, weekly, or daily, are available at various prices any time throughout the year.
