Researcher Summary and Detail Query

RE:        New “Researcher:  Summary & Detail Query” within Finance Self Service

Financial Services are pleased to announce the addition a new query to Finance Self Service (FSS) called “Researcher:  Summary & Detail Query”.

This new query was designed specifically for Researchers and those who have been delegated access to a research and/or special purpose account in FSS.

This query will allow a Researcher to:

  • At a click of a button get the available balance (after commitments) for all of their research and special purpose accounts on one screen.  No parameters need to be entered.

  • The available balance is colour coded to help you determine the status of your account
    • Green – healthy fund
    • Orange – 10% or less of the funds are available
    • Red – Overspent fund
  • To see the following:
    • Agency associated with account
    • Account start and end dates
    • Research Accounting Administrator’s name and able to click on their name to send them an email
  • An inception to date section where you can see your budget, total spent, commitments for current year and ending balance based on Fiscal Year or Project Start Date.

  • To view your revenue or expenditures based on Fiscal Year or Date Range.

  • To access the Salary Encumbrance Query and Commitment Query that appear under the Finance Self Service menu from this query without having to enter any parameters with the except of fiscal year.

  • To access the summary totals for revenue or expenses and then drill into the detail and see it all on the same screen.

  • To copy the information and paste it into Excel.

The FSS User Guide on Financial Services website has been updated with this information.
