Planning an existing site

Requesting a new website

A new website request may be issued for a site that currently does not exist. To submit a request, send an email to webteam@dal.ca with the following information:

  1. Who is the site owner? (This is the person who can approve a site launch and has local authority for the site. e.g., for a Faculty site, the Dean or designate)

  2. Who is the main contact for the site? (Contact should have internal project-management authority)

  3. Who will be the site editor? (This person will have lead responsibility for producing and maintaining the content for the site going forward)

  4. Please list:
    • additional content contributors (people who will author/update content for the site)
    • internal web developers or other technical staff who are available and committed to this website development
    • internal communications staff or other non-technical staff who are available and committed to this website development
  5. Urgency (if needed within six months)

  6. Audiences (prospective students, current students, internal, etc.)

Site rebuilds – "I want to scrap my site and start fresh"

In some cases, a site rebuild will expedite the migration process. If you have a website that has not been migrated to the new content management system and you wish to "start fresh," you will still need to:

  1. Complete the Website Migration Form [PDF - 119 kB]

  2. Provide your proposed navigation structure in the Content Inventory Form [XLSX - 17 kB]

  3. Once complete, submit both forms via email to webteam@dal.ca and note that you are proposing a site rebuild. If the new proposed architecture contains content or pages that currently exist on your website, note the URL of the page under the "Current URL" column.
