Front Desk Services

Some of our residences include a Front Desk for inquiries, maintenance requests, parcel pick up, basic necessities, help with keys and equipment sign out. Gerard Hall, Howe Hall, Risley Hall and Shirreff Hall have Front Desks that are staffed 24 hours a day.

• Eliza Ritchie Hall uses the Shirreff Hall Front Desk
• Glengary Apartments use the Risley Hall Front Desk
• Grad House uses the Gerard Hall Front Desk
• Mini Rez uses the Howe Hall Front Desk
• O'Brien Hall uses the Gerard Hall Front Desk
• Residence Houses use the Howe Hall Front Desk

If you're locked out of your room, the Front Desk assigned to your building can help you gain re-entry. After three lock outs, students are charged $5 for each subsequent lock out. Lost keys are subject to a replacement fee of $25 per key.

What's to eat?

Most residences require that you purchase a meal plan. It's convenient and you won't have to worry about the dishes. See Meal Plans to learn more.

How do I get connected?

High-speed Internet, local phone and cable television access are all included in residence. See ResNet about Internet or see Telephone & TV to learn more.

Can I bring my car?

There are very few overnight parking spaces on campus, so be sure you have parking before you bring your car. See Security to learn more.

Who cleans up around here?

You're responsible for cleaning your room. Common areas, such as lounges and washrooms are cleaned by custodial staff. See Maintenance to learn more.

Mail Services

You'll get your mailbox key when you check into residence. Your mailing address will include your residence mailing address (See Contact Information for residence addresses) and the specific mailbox number you were given in your room assignment letter. Please use the following format to ensure correct delivery:

Laundry Rooms

Coin-operated washers and dryers are located in most residence buildings—some even allow you to pay with your DalCard. Laundry rooms are available for the use of residents only. Please leave the area tidy for the next person and be prompt in picking up your laundry.
