Description: Civil Engineering encompasses the planning, design, construction, management and maintenance of infrastructure support systems for communities. The two formal options within Civil Engineering are Infrastructure and Materials, and Earth and Environmental. Dalhousie’s program includes studies in the following fields: structural (bridges, buildings and dams), environmental and water resources (water and wastewater treatment, groundwater contamination, flood forecasting, shore protection), geotechnical (foundations, soil assessment, landfill design, offshore exploration), and transportation (roadways, traffic control management, intelligent transportation systems).
