More residence beds for our students

With an increasing number of Dalhousie’s students coming from out of province, there is now a greater demand than ever for residence spaces. To meet this growing need, Dalhousie is building a new residence.

The new building, the LeMarchant Street Mixed Use Building, is due to open in the summer of 2013. The top five floors will be dedicated to residence rooms accommodating over 300 students. The bottom two floors will house a variety of student services, including:

  • Black Student Advising Centre
  • International Student and Exchange Services
  • Recruitment and Enrolment Centre
  • Health Services
  • Counseling Services

Moving student services closer to University Avenue

Located on Studley Campus across from Risley Hall and near the Memorial Arena, the LeMarchant Street Mixed Use Building will not only provide much needed beds for students, but also key student services in closer proximity to the students who use them.

Funding for the building will come in part from the sale of Fenwick Tower, as well as from student residence fees and by leasing portions of the non-residence parts of the building.
